Turkey blues

Any of you guys feel like you' ve lost your best freind since turkey season went out? I have been praying for april to hurry up and come seems like the months are getting longer and april is getting farther away. I could almost swear I saw a long beard stick his tongue out at me the other day cause the season was out and he knew he was safe! Anyway let me know if any of you have the blues!!!!!!!!!!

If you only knew....I' ve been hunting these birds going on my fourth year next spring with no success. I can' t wait to get back out there to hopefully redeem myself. I' ve put in for a special permit to hunt this fall. As bad as I want a tom I think I will be planning on trying to harvest a hen to try to thin them out by one. Just doing my part for management I guess. It was especially tough this past spring because opening week it rained and rained.

You better believe it! But the fall season is only about 11 weeks away, although it' s not quite the thrill for me as the spring season. It also coincides with the whitetail bow season so it' s always hard to think turkey especially if I' m seeing a lot of deer. So much to do.....so little time to do it in!!:D

:D@ Pat,Good one bud.Fall season can' t be to much fun for Adrian.H eclimbs into a tree stand and before he has his bow pulled up he has a buck under him so he shoots it and less than 1 1/2 hour later he shoots a turkey. This includes the time it took to clean the buck and haul it back to my house.$101 to hunt for 1 1/2 hours can' t be much fun.:D

Jalvja, Adrain has to do it that way. He can' t hack the terrain;). He' ll have it harder the next time with the point restriction. We' ll have to see if he can count that high:D

:DFalls not far,and between little league and football starting tommorrow for my boys, the time passes pretty quick for me!I spent the night on Shasta Lake last night catfishing and as that slow glow of sun-up approached I still find myself with one ear listening for that faint early morning gobble even though I know its not going to happen!!;)

not me......i had a great year.....my 5th year.....i hunted alone behind my house one day i should been at school.....i found the birds myself and did all the scouting of them myself...went hunting alone....called alone......and did it all myself.....it took everything dad taught me plus some from you guys to call in that stubborn call shy preseason called to tom.....but i bagged him......i made a wooden plaque for his beard and fan and made a neclace for all my spurs....he was my first.....i was very proud of myself and even though i had to wake dad up to show him in the morning after he worked night turn i could tell he was proud that i didnt just skip school that day and just go mess around in the woods and proud to see that i was listening and learning all that time.....it was a great day.....fall season is right around the corner.....heck...3 months or so i will be chasin them turks again......no sense in wasting time wishing for something....go fishing....go shoot some ground hogs......go test some loads out of turkey slayer......make some calls......anything....but dont wish your life away.....im only 16 and know that....youll look back and be wishing you could go back...this is the time to practice your calling.....pattern your gun.....play with loads and chokes......not sit inside and wish for spring......its the greatest time of year for sure.....but theres lots to be done....
