Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default My first turkey ever

here is my very first turkey it took me 4 seasons to get him i got him on 5/03/10 at 8:53 am in Ohio
he has a 10 inch bread 1 &1/4 inch spurs and 18.3 lbs that's what the scale read at the check in.
Now for the story
got out and went wear i have been seeing a nice tom with some hens
and did not hear any birds in till 7:30.
They where way down in the woods so i call on one of my mouth calls about 30 min. later
they came out in the field. i could not see them i could just heard them then they worked there way behind me
and the 2 bird stay right out of sight because of a hill. they where only around 50 yards from me.
so i crawled closer to them and set up by a bush i still could not see them so i called very very soft on my mouth call.
about 15 Min's later one of the to toms popped up over the hill to have a look and then he toke a dirt nap
That is how i finally got my first turkey i am very very very happy with him he is now in the freezer for me to mount later this summer he will be my first turkey i ever mounted i think i am going to mount him in a full strutting pose
i took him with a 12 GA 2 3/4 inch 6 shot
thanks for looking i hope i did not bore you to much

Great job Candace! That is a beautiful 2 1/2-3yr old bird, not bad, not bad at all. Took me 4yrs to kill my first tom I doubt i will ever kill a tom as big as my first Ohio bird. It weighed 30lbs, 2" spurs and a 11 1/4" beard...shoulda had it mounted but what did i know back then? LOL

Great job,you go girl! What a nice bird for your very first one. Good Hunting in the future as well. You ladies always get the big game to humble us guys. I've been outfished and out hunted more times than I care to admit.
