Low shot long distance

Angry Low shot long distance

So afte 4 years i finally got a shot on my first turkey and i believe i shot low and hit him in the body n legs at 45 yards with a 3.5 #5 heavy shot load. He turned n ran 10-15 yards the walked off the field, is he done or will he recover? should i have gone after him or was is it pointles?

You didn't go look for him? You should always look for an animal you think you hit. If he just walked away, he was probably hit pretty hard. Big mistake not looking for him. He may live, but it sounds like he was hit hard. Not good, not good at all.

you ALWAYS go look for an animal you just shot at..........ALWAYS!

I never seen a turkey take a load of hevi shot to the body etc. especially #5 hevi shot and survive long after the shot.

Wasnt he limping etc.
U messed him up if u hit him with the hevi shot!!
He did not even attempt to fly away?Just walked off????

I think its safe to say u missed!!
,cause a low hit with hevi shot =broken legs etc.
Well at least u had a chance at one,

Sounds to me like you potentionally missed this bird, but I agree with teh other posters- You have to look. We owe it to the animal and to those who would love to use a dead turkey or even a maimed one to prove how aweful we are for hunting.
