My son killed his first Turkey yesterday during opening day of Missouri's Youth Season. Woods had a few gobbles early but everything went silent around 730. We kept hunting and stalking until the afternoon and went back to catch some coming back to roost during the evening. Worked like a charm. I called them in with a diaphram call and he took this one down with a 12ga 870 with 3" #5. I am one proud father. It was an excellent day and I highly recommend it to anyone with children. Best rush I have ever experienced. He is 11 and hooked on both deer and turkey hunting.
Spurs are just over an inch and beard is 9 1/4".
This bird was killed on public land. Thank you to our excellent department of conservation here in Missouri.
