Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Given that, what shell would you recommend in terms of shot size, brand, etc.? Does hevi make a shell in 2 3/4 and would that be a better choice given the limitations I face or should a std turkey load in 5 or 6 shot be suitable?

Also, what would be a reasonable maximum range with a turkey extra full choke? I'll do the patterning, but what do you think? I use 40 yrds as a pretty strict limit with my 12 ga rem 870 3 inch with #6's. thx for the input
A lot depends upon what chokes you have for the gun. I am a dedicated 20ga Turkey hunter, since 2000. If you will only be using the factory FULL choke I would recommend you try 2¾" Magnum 1 1/8oz #6Pb. They are available from Federal®, Remington®, and Winchester.

I shoot a Charles Daly 20 gage field model with an Undertaker choke, at 30 and 40 measured yards it can almost shear a tukey's head off with 2.75" shells down to our state minimum #7.5 shot size. With a full Remchoke it does almost as well, especially with #6 shot. It's plenty of gun. Hevishot is overkill in my book, you don't need it.

Default 20 gauge

Me and my son shot his gun today we got him for christmas it is a 1187 with a Indian creek 555 choke and Hevi 3" #6 shot we had 215 shot in a 10 inch circle at 30 yards im pretty impressed for a 20 gauge but the gun seems to be shooting a little low might put a red dot on it I might even have to take this gun out!!
