Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default Kickapoo State Park Illinois

I was able to pick up a turkey tag (Kickapoo State Park in Illinois) for the upcoming spring season. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience hunting in this area. The last time I was there squirrel hunting I actually saw a bunch of them hanging out near one of the roads by the main entrance of the park. Any advice or tips would be appreciated because I will be heading out there to do some scouting in the near future.

What season tag did you draw? I'm not familiar with the amount of hunting pressure on that particular piece of state land but it could be a serious challenge by later in the season. Good luck

Yea I was kinda worried about that as well. It is for the second season so it shouldn't be that bad. I am kinda looking forward to the challenge of hunting on public land anyways. Thankfully if that goes bad my grandparents own some land in Michigan (Allegan County). Every morning there is about 20 of them on our front lawn.

I am still looking for anyone who has hunted turkey at Kickapoo. I should probably post this on the Illinois thread.

The good thing about drawing the 2nd season is that it the FIRST weekend anyone can hunt turkey here in IL. This means that the birds won't be pressured much... atleast until that weekend. If you're pretty decent at the turkey hunting game... I bet you stand a fair chance.

I also agree, I'd repost this in the state forum and you may be able to collect some useful feedback.

Best of luck to ya this Spring!

I never really thought about the 2nd season being the first weekend to hunt in Illinois so I feel a bit better about my chances. As far as my turkey hunting game....Not too good, not too bad haha.
Good luck to you too this Spring.
