RE: Which is worse in your area???
coons are our major problem here.

RE: Which is worse in your area???
Coyotes would be first.
Hawks and eagles Bobcats fox Lions Bears Roadrunners love any kind of an egg. Not enough snakes, skunks and raccoons to be a problem here. |
RE: Which is worse in your area???
I would have to say coons, fox, feral cats, and hawks. Our predator population in NC is booming. No one traps or hunts them. Hogs are also hurting the nest in some areas. But I don' t think that the predation rate is enough to hurt the flocks here they are really growing!

RE: Which is worse in your area???
I would say coons and foxes are around #1

RE: Which is worse in your area???
Here in Northern MO I would have to say coyotes, coons, skunks and an increasingly larger population of bobcats. All the better reason to take up predator hunting in the off season!

RE: Which is worse in your area???
around here it' s coon, skunks, fox and hawks.we have a small population of coyotes but lots of the others.

RE: Which is worse in your area???
WOW!!Lets see here!!
coons skunks coyotes bobcats fox snakes ferral cats hogs hawks owls eagles cougar bears roadrunners I' ll add one more to the mix and thats these dang ground squirrels we have around these parts, they reek havoc on all the ground nesters as they love eggs![:@] ![]() I agree totally with MTT here a good management practice to help your birds in the areas you hunt is a little predator control. We have years with huge outbursts of fox and squirrel populations and no doubt they take there toll on the turk population! These are greys.Fox that is! ![]() |
RE: Which is worse in your area???
I' m from eastern Wisconsin I would have to say that coons are the #1 pred of turkeys or I should say they' re eggs those coons are everywhere i was thinking about getting into trapping them there are so many

RE: Which is worse in your area???
Called a coyote in this spring! He looked over my decoy and decided to move on--he made a wise decision!
Definitely coyotes and coons in northern New York State! Re: coyotes---the more you kill -the more you see-it seems! The only sure method of lowering their population is when their food supply begins to decline...I haven' t seen a snowshoe hare in quite a while! During deer season, I used to see them all the time just before dark...partridge sightings have declined too in my area![:@] |
RE: Which is worse in your area???
Definitely coyotes are the no. 1 killer of adult and juvenile birds in my area, followed by bobcat and fox. Eggs are gobbled up by skunks, possum, ' coon, and bear. Way too many ' yotes ' round here, and I find a few hollowed out turkey carcasses every fall, and a bunch of ' yote skat with pin feathers in it.
