Default big flock of turkeys

i was out for a stroll in the woods the other day since my deer season is done. after a while i took a rest and sat against a tree on top of a ridge that overlooked a river and ravine/gully(creek runs through it to the river) to see if i could spot some wildlife. after about 15min. i heard some hens that sounded like they were heading towards me. soon it was getting louder and louder and all i could hear after the first few hens appeared on top of the ridge across from me was clucks, cackles, gobbles, every sound a turkey can make. more and more just kept pouring down that ridge. i lost count after 100 but estimate there were 250-350 turkeys. they were just going nuts and it was so loud. i was so amazed and in awe. the only things i am disappointed about is that i didn't have a camera with me and also that it wasn't turkey season. i've never seen more than 20 in that woods. i've only been turkey hunting for 2yrs. and thinking about joining your contest but with everything going on in my personal life it's too soon for me to know if i'll have the time to even turkey hunt this spring. so can anyone tell me about when the sign up will close? thanks.

After seeing the different replies from folks in other states.... I think it's a "snow" thing. From my experience.... the turkey almost seem to panic and go into a survival mode once it snows. We also get huge flocks once the winter sets in. I've seen flocks of hundreds of birds hitting the same picked cornfield once the snow covers everything. We once had a flock of ove 200 birds that would come down into the coral evry evening we went to feed te cattle. It was awesome to see so many birds walking all around and through all the Black Angus cows to get at any spilled feed!
