Get yourself a "slate" or box call, or better yet, both. Make sure at least one will work in the rain.
Pattern your gun. You always aim wherever you have to, to put as many BB's as you can in the head/neck. They have kevlar feathers and you won't kill them any other way.
Scout alot. There is no substitute for scouting.
Don't call too much. A lot of guys, including the ones on TV, call too much.
Good luck and welcome to the madness that is turkey hunting.

I would recommend joining the National Wild Turkey Federation - http://turkeyshoppe.nwtf.org/c-113-memberships.aspx. They have an excellent magazine with lots of great info for newbies and veterans alike. Also if you get involved with the local chapter in your area the guys on the committee may offer a lot of good advice for a newbie.
Best of luck - just a warning, it may become your new favorite sport!

We ahve a Forum for well written articles that is right upyour alley.
Go to the Tips and Tactics - it has from patterning a shotgun to using a call and different calls and then how to clean the bird once you have shot it and even save the tail fan.
And do join in on the HNI Spring contest

What JW said. Join the NWTF. Go to the NWTF website and look around. Some good stuff there also.
Most importantly, get out there and hunt. Spend as much time scouting as hunting.
You can't learn to hunt turkeys on the internet, you have to do it to learn it. We can point you in the right direction but, ultimately, it's up to you.
Good luck
