Default Do turkey eat apples?

I found an apple tree with some on the ground, as was wondering if this would be a good place too get a turkey, It seems like it would be hard for them to eat an apple with there beaks?

Yes, turkeys do eat apples. It would be a good place to hunt if you know about what time they are in that particular area.

I've never heard of it before but it makes sense that they would. I have chickens and they love to eat apples, although I mash them up before I give it to them.

Sure, turkeys will eat apples...They eat near anything, animal, vegetable and mineral..That's one reason why they are so adaptable and resiliant..

However, I don't think apples are anywhere near the top of a turkey's list of favorite foods, like acorns, beechnuts, grasshoppers, shell corn, etc..

Most of the turkeys I've seen working apples were after frozen apples they scratched up out of the snow in winter when many of thier favored foods were unavailable.....

Would a flock of turkeys walk past a grove of acorn loaded oaks to get to an apple tree..??.. I doubt it..

New York has a bumper crop of acorns this year, both red and white, and I doubt apples will get much attention until the acorns are covered under snow and ice..
