RE: Hunting in the RAIN

That is the best way to hunt rain setting up along field edges!!
I went and bought me a Dog House Blind and that is what I choose to sit in on rainy days;)
Before that I used my camo unbrella.
The Birds don' t seem to pay any attention to either one.
Try it!
It may just keep you in the woods longer;)
I know that I don' t care to get soaked any more than the next person and this year I have had only 1 day to hunt that it didn' t rain so far.

Turk thats a good plan!I also like hunting in bad weather primarily because of what Jalvja spoke about (less pressure)!!One thing I always do in bad weather that has always proven beneficial is slow down a bit!Birds will stick to there daily patterns its just that bad weather has a tendency to slow there movements down a bit!Patience, staying dry with a good set of rain gear, and a willingness to stay out there will pay big dividends!;)

RE: Hunting in the RAIN

I was always against a rainy day, but after going to Ohio for the last few days, they have been getting some fine birds during the rainy weather!! My last morning to hunt there was thursday, and yep, it was pouring outside!! We got into the van and headed to a spot to hunt!! The rain stopped as we pulled up and the birds sounded off like it was a sunny day!! Make sure to wear rain gear and your good to go!! Jalvja hada very good point, most guys stay home in that kind of weather, so you might just have that woods to your self!! I think I have changed my mind on those kinds of days now!!;)

Well, today i went and it was pouring with a 35mph east wind blowing and i`ll be honest, i should have stayed in bed and let my poison ivy heal. Not a single bird gobbled and it was raining so hard you couldn`t hear a call from more than 50 yards.[:@] Oh well tomorrows another day.:D

Keep in mind , that on real bad days, I believe that it could put more added presure on the birds in the area. Bumping birds off the roost and ground jumping could make a movement in there areas...BT

I think the rain also keeps alot of other hunters home.
And I think thats one of the reasons I like to hunt in the rain. The fair weather boys are on the couch and the birds are easing up a little.
