Heading out for another week of chasing heavily pressured eastern gobblers.. It' s not looking good so far this spring. Have been dealing with a lot of hunters in my hunting spots. Hopefully I bag one this week becuase this is the last chance I will get to hunt these weary gobblers.

Ken, hang in there buddy!! Are you hunting the week days? I can see where the weekends would get a bunch of pressure. You never know when it will happen, right place at the right time, lady luck will shine on you!!

Well I' m back.
I can honestly say this has been my worst spring ever for hunting pressure, weather and just plain bad luck!!!
I went out last night and roosted this bird about 100 yards off the main dirt road that runs threw the state forest that I hunt. Anyhow the turkey flys down and is gobbling heading towards the road. I give him a few clucks on the slate and he gobbles. 10 minutes later I check him again and he gobbles again. This time he is a little closer but still up near the road. A bout 10 min later he gobbles again this time he is about 50 yards from me and still up near the road. Well I' m sitting with gun up on knee pointing in his direction. The next thing I hear is a car coming down the road and slow down and BOOM!!!!!!!. I hear voices and a car door slam and the car tears down the road. I dont think they killed the turkey because the car sped away to fast after the shot.... THE PRICE I HAVE TO PAY HUNTING PUBLIC LAND!!!!!!!!!!
After that little ordeal I couldn' t stand it I had to pack up my !@#$ and head home to the wife and kid. I figured I would just come home and get my FATBOY all cleaned up and get it ready for Myrtle Beach bike week....
Hopefully next spring is a little better.

I hope you get one. I know what it feels like to not get one for a while, and then on the last half hour on the last day, you hear that tell tale sound of a close gobble. Dont worry, you will get one, i know it.

Ken, I can feel for you, I went throught the very same thing as you did last sunday, except these were my " Honey Holes" !!!
I learned a lesson, the very first weekend you don' t want to be out!! Hunt during the week instead!! Every Yahoo is out on the weekends and will wreck your hunt each time!! Let' s be sure to give a special thanks to the NWTF, maybe they can enlist another 2 million new members!![:@]

I hunt turkeys in Western MD too. I finally have permission on some private land, but I also hunt some public land and never encountered another hunter during the week and and half I was out there.
