NY bird down this morning....

Long day and story!! The weatherman was predicting rain and thunderstorms for today, so after getting up at 3:20am and not hearing any rain, I got dressed and left!! Got to this spot at 5:00am and as I was about to go into the woods I noticed the sky lighting up and heard some thunder in the distance!! I waited to make sure that it wasn' t headed my way and went in to hunt!! Heard two birds sound off and tried to get something going but they must of had company because they didn' t want anything to do with my calling. I moved on them three times before I noticed that they were headed towards posted land. Right then the thunderstorm hit right over my head, and here came the rain!! Time to leave fast!!
On the way home the weather started to clear up and I hit another spot closer to home. I had two birds sounding off at this new spot and after moving 5 times to try and get something going, this one gobbler finally decided to come in!! Took the shot at 10:45am!! This was my heaviest bird to date at 23.3 lbs!! He had a 9" beard and super sharp 1" spurs!! I' ll be sure to post some pic' s as soon as I get the film developed!! One down, one more to go here in NY!! Good luck to anyone else out there still hunting!!

Buckeye Mike, that shot was every bit of 40 yards away, and those Nitro shells worked great!! Knocked him down flat, never even flutterd!! That rascal was behind two good sized tree' s for almost 10 minutes, I couldn' t get him to step out!! Finally he must of " Smelled" a trap and decided to back track. Well as soon as he cleared those two trees I shot.
