There is a noticeable node from where the beard is protruding on each picture albeit better in pic #1

If the beards share a common (same) base then it would count as a double beard if they don't share the same base then you have a triple beard. Do they move independent of one another? If so they are single beards and he has three.

congrats on your trophy! You should be able to tell when you pull and twist to remove them but it sure looks like 3 to me.
