True about the cheaper stones, but the slick stick is a pretty neat little package. Besides the diamond and stone sides, there is a scotch brite pad to conditon slate, a place to touch up strikers by inserting and turning, and a piece of box call chalk all in one little easy to carry package. All of your conditioning needs in one little stick. I got mine on Ebay for probably $5. Well worth it to me.
