Wish I' d found this board last year to ask some questions on this. I cured my first fan in salt. The good news is, no smell, no bugs. The bad news is, I never thought to spread the fan out before curing it! Can you say MORON! well, thats me! One day I' ll mess with it and try soaking in a borax/water solution to try to soften it up and spread it out. I was just so happy to bag my first gobbler last year that I didn' t even really give preserving the fan much thought. Well, my season starts this Wednesday, can hardly wait. Maybe I' ll get lucky and have a shot at mounting fan #2.

You maybe able to soak it and move it somewhat but I don' t really know if it will work or not. But heck its worth a shot
Anyway Have a great start to your season[8D]
