Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

I will be this year. First turkey hunt and goin with the bow. Dad is going to be along to videotape. Been going out to the turkey land every week and lots of birds 4 toms in the field this morning more in the woods. Videotaped some a couple weeks ago, 7 toms at full strut walking side by side, it was awesome. Tag is from April 15-19.

My first three turkeys were with the bow and arrow. Now, I use a shotgun to be more effective if I want to pull the trigger. For me, turkey hunting isn't so much about the kill,as it is about the calling. Now, deer hunting is different. I bowfish. I bowhunt. Maybe, one day I will go back to turkey hunting with a bow, but right now, I enjoy the run and gun approach to turkeys more than sitting behind a blind. Now, don't get me wrong, I was determined to kill my first bird with a bow and then did so twice more (without pop-up blinds, I might add). However, I learned that that wasn't the part that I enjoyed. However you enjoy the hunt is how you should go after them.

I think that is reserved strickly for private land hunters

What..the great, the mighty Mr. Longbeard can't bowhunt turkeys on public land?

No... If I hunted place that I had multiple chance at gobblers then maybe I would consider chasing them with a bow... But. Beings I hunt public land and the mutible factor is not there all the very ofter... I will not put the odds against me

I wonder out of all the people hear that bow hunt turkeys... How many do it on public land Gamblinman???

I liked the way mine look, ya just have to baby 'em a bit and not rough 'em up in a large decoy bag over the entire season. I really torn 'em up by seasons end. I agree totally though, the do look pretty good and I think they sure help sell your decoy set-up. I have 3 of 'em and they will be trying to perform this year as well. A little TLC and some hot melt glue and I got 'em lookin' decent again.

Now, for the Dave Smith decoys..... WOW, those things are just amazing!!! I have one of his hens that will be workin' for me this Spring but I would love to add another by next season. I would also love to him offer a full strutter.... I'd be afraid to see the price tag on it.... but I would love to see one ?!?

Best of luck to ya this Spring DB and I hope we get the chance to see a lot of ya around here.

This will be my first season with a Crossbow. I will be mostly on public land. Got a friend of the family out in Washington County VA that has seen 30-40 Turkey in his back yard. That will be my backup plan. They live a little far away.
