RE: Longest distance to shoot at turkey
The longest shot i've ever took on a turkey i paced off 68 steps...it was in a big pasture and i didnt realize how far it was but i killed him...i generally dont shoot anywhere over 45 yards but when its the heat of the moment and that toms gobblin his head off at 60 yards i'm confident in what my gun can do.

here is a short one for ya. how about 20 yards. but thats mainly cause i hunt with my bow now. i know i'm accurate out to 40 but a bird is alot smaller than a deer.
I have killed a bird at 45 with my scatter gun but other than that my farthest is still 20 yards.

I shoot a Benelli SuperNova, Indian Creek choke, and Hevi 13 #5s. With that combo I'm confident I could kill a bird at 55-60 yards, but I try to hold my shots at 40 and below. To me, the whole point of the game is outsmarting that gobbler and calling him in close.

Well, using Nitros I would say 50 yards max. I mean you can kill them farther that but it's a little un-ethical. The only reason I can see shotting a turkey past 50 yards is in the, "spur of the moment" andmis-estimating range. It also depends on confidence. If you a have a 4-10, even with nitros, the tightes pattern ever, andthe best scope on the market, you probably wont want to try past 20 yards. Because your not confident with your gun.

I'll put it like this: I can without question, when carrying my 835, kill a turkey cleanly everytime at 65 yards.
That said, just because the gun can do it, doesn't mean its shooter will. I frankly don't care to shoot them much beyond 30 or so. But if I get the right bird in the right circumstances and I feel like shooting him because he put on a good show... then I'll kill him so long as he is within range.
