Hey every one! I' ve been reading the posts for a while on this site and have really enjoyed them, but this is my first post as a member. I just got a new mossberg 500 with a gloss wood stock and bright blued barrel. I' m kinda concerned that all the gloss and shine might scare old longbeard away. do I have a reason to be afraid? I have camo paint that I used to paint two Of my rifles do you think It would be worth the trouble to paint the gun? Any responses are appreciated. thanks

It has not been a problem for me. I use a winchester 1300 xtr 20 ga it has a polished blued barrel and wood. I think holding still is a lot more important.

i agree......i know it' s all about the movement......i always camo out from head to toe, i think that helps too.......

movement is the thing that spookes birds most of the time.I wouldn' t worry to much about the gun.
I did camo. my shotgun,if you think that will help You feel better; go for it

thanks for all the replies. I wasn' t to worried about it to begin with but a few people swore up and down that it makes a difference. It seems to me that, like you all said if you stay still it won' t be a problem. Thanks alot.

8mman movement is the most important thing. What can happen and probually would is this. The turkeys might catch a shine or glare off of your gun and draw attention to you, but if you are motionless, they will just move on. I have watched turkeys (just to learn from them) for many years and I have seen them stop different things and look, then just move on. But if you move, YOUR BUSTED

FYI, if you don' t want to go to the trouble to paint there are tape kits that look pretty good.
