Default Permits

How many permits are you allowed in your state? Here in Ne we get 3. At $24 a piece.(resident fee)That seems high. Now what I'm wondering is with the turkey population becoming overwhelming, why they don't have a bonus tag. We had a bonus for archery and muzzleloader deer which seemed like it went over really well. Just curious what the stipulations are for eveywhere else?

In Michigan it is1 kill tag non-res approx.$69.00
In Wisconsin it is 1 kill tag but you can buy more tags overr the counter for the later seasons. If you tags for the same season you can more than 1.
(don't know non-res fee) Costs residents about $25 with an extra $10 for each tag purchased.
In Tennessee it 1 permit for 3 birds - 1 per day. non-res $175
In Georgia it is 1 permit for 3 birds - can take 3 in 1 day non-res $175
In Iowa it is 1 kill tag. non-res $190 - $100 turkey permit and a $90 small game license

And those are the states I usually hunt.

Now be aware why do the states do this? Charge for each kill tag or perrmit? The more license sales any state can prove gets that state more money from the Robertson/Pittman act from the feds.

$24 a tag seems high? go out of state for any tag...

We're allowed 1 tag, I think the price is aroudn $25, but I really don't know, I know it's cheap regardless.

Illinois residents are allowed 3 permits. $15 a piece

we have five seasons that are 5-8 days long, 32 total days

each tag is good for one of the five seasons

Alabama is $125 for a 3 day license....and you are allowed 1 bird per day up to 5 for the season. SO, if you tagged out every day, it would come to $41.67 per tag, but if you strike out...it was $125 for an unfilled tag.

TN was even more with less birds allowed.

My resident turkey permits for KY are $30 for a two bird permit, and I am more than happy with it.

Wisconsin turkey permit aps are 3.00 and tags/licenses are 24.00 if youre lucky enough to get drawn for one, just in the last few years they started bonus tags for zones that have extra tags available. not really sure what purpose it really holds, if they have so many extra tags why not give em to the ones that applied and never got drawn. Some folks are lucky enough to get drawn for 2-4 extra tags for different weeks.
