Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

well it kind of depends if you want to call them in or not but a good start is finding where they roost or a feeding area. Do some scouting around so you have an idea of where to start. You cant ever do too much scouting

Check your states laws. Here in Pa we can only hunt them from a stationary calling position. Meaning we cannot put a stalk on them and shoot.
Get some calls and practice making turkey sounds. Clucks and purrs will kill a lot of turkeys. Yelps would be good also. Then have patience. Locate some gobblers and setup and call them in. Its that easy!!!LOL

A box call is a good one to start - Master - learn how to run that call making the sounds of the turkey and grow from there. The next easiest call other than a push pin is a pot or slate call.

You want to learn - go back through the pages here as there are questions and asnwers to those questions as we all started at one time to learn what we have learned.

the beuaty of this sport is - I learn each time I hunt.

One of the best teachers i had ever had for turkey hunting is the turkey himself. Every year I see a different situation that i'm never ready for.
Be ready for anything.
Like JW said there are alot of threads that will offer more info than you could possibly fit in your head at one time.

If you can hook up with a buddy who has turkey hunted before(preferably someone successful at it of course), I would suggest it for your first year. You will pick up a lot from them that videos or books can't teach you. And of course like what was mentioned, turkeys themselves are a good teacher.

Once you start turkey hunting, you will be hooked.
