Ya HA! lots of email coming in on formalin. yes, you can get it from the undertaker, the college and high school near you and probably the beauty salon too.
PAhunter86:
swing by any fish hatchery and ask for a baby food jar of it, it' ll last you the rest of your life.
here' s some info on formaldehyde, I like it--it works, those in the fish culture industry are up to their armpits in it for years, they use it for treating parasites.
sure some twitch but that' s the price you pay for hatchery fish.

WARNING: wrap the jar with labels and on the top saying poison.
I can introduce you to a guy that saw a jar full of walleye eggs in water and he thought he' d give the willies to the kids at the hatchery so he swallowed them right down. Yep. they were in formalin and he lost most of his intestines and part of his stomach from that stunt.
wear gloves and be smart with it, it only takes a few cc' s to do a whole tail, legs and wings(if you aren' t making calls of them)
or go to sciencelabs.com or medichest.com ( low % stuff)

If you want to go the formaldahyde route, use formalin, this is a 10% solution of formaldehyde and the standard concentration for fixing tissues. You can also get it from your verterinarian.

not like you would think with all the business we' ve sent him.
We get formalin in 55 gallon drums, 40 of them a year, for treating the trout we have in our private ponds and river.
or get any of the solutions from the websites I listed above. it' s cheap enough, 500 ml will last three lifetimes.
I like to inject them with the needle syringe that oyu can get for injector cooking turkeys and the like, it' s big and won' t break off, and it' s $2.98 here at teh hardware store. I wrap red tape with a poison sticker around it, just in case the cajun next door borrows it to cook with.
