I think that situation happens alot. We are no matter how good we call still not a turkey. I had teh oppisite happen a few years ago, I heard a hen and a tom talking and I pulled the gobbler to me, that was sweet.

Yes, I think you are right. That is why I call hens in in spring season. Than I try an piss her off so she makes a lot of noise so the old tom shows up, to see what all the noise is about.
