[:' (]It is with great sorrow and loss that I must announce the passing of jack the jake. My long time hunting companion. A truly dedicated and professional decoy.
Jack has been with me since 1995 and has contributed to the demise of 9 gobblers.
He has been inadvertantly shot twice and has been beat up many times by some big bully birds over the years.
I let a friend take him hunting yesterday morning and thats the last time I saw jack
in one piece. My friend had set jack out in a strutting area with two hens early yesterday morning. He turned on the moto magnet motor, (motor attached to the stake that makes the decoy bob up and down.) and sat back to wait. Sure enough
about 8:45am a 28 lb bird came out to investigate. When it saw jack it went nuts and ran right up to him and started to beat the crap out of him about 20 yards from my friend. My buddy got excited and shot twice killing the gobbler and mortally wounding jack.[X(] 3 1/2 inch magnum #4' s at 20 yards. Poor fella never stood a chance. Neither duct tape, sewing thread, or rubber tube patch kit could save him. He is now adorning the wall in my den on a 10x10 plaque. He will truly
be missed by all who knew him.[:' (]

It' s always sad to see an old friend go. But you can take comfort in knowing that your new " puppy" errrr decoy will help ease the pain that you are feeling now. Only time and a few up close encounters with a boss tom will help bridge the gap between your old friend jack and your new best hunting buddy. Good luck with all the training in your new best friend.

May Jack' s memory live on as you hunt the ridges and glens
Reminding you of great times you had with him when;
Bobbing and weaving while you cut yelped and putt
In came the gobbler adorned in full strut!
Nine turkeys have fallen and met their demise
They could not tell jack was just a disguise!
He looked so real, even moved in the ploy
Yes Jack was well known as an awesome decoy.
So famous in fact, a friend in a ruse
Put in a request, Jack could I use?
Placed out in the open a tom to deceive
At close range number 4' s he also received.
A gallant effort was made to save our friend Jack
But not tape, thread, nor glue could bring our coy back.
In his last act of guile he reached number ten
May he rest forever on the wall of your den.
