Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

On the surface it does seem like an impossibility to miss with a shotgun. However if one analyses the situation it isn' t really that hard to do. With modern equipment at close ranges the patterns are ultra tight. If the gun is not impacting to point of aim and your using only a front bead for the sight a guy can really get fooled. Now throw in the fact that it is a persons first time and you could have a recipe for frustration.

I had a good time laughing at everyone' s misses until it happened to me. Late in the season when the birds quit coming to the call I had put out a decoy and due to hard work and little sleep I decided I would lay down and take a short break. As they say I " went out like a light" ! I awoke to this strange purring/cutting sound and looked out to find a tom molesting my decoy a short distance away. I knew I didn' t have a chance if I sat up so I tried to shoot him lying down with my old single shot. I know he felt the hot gases go over his head as he almost did a complete somer sault getting out of there. Must be why they call it hunting I suppose.
