Got my first bird of the year Sat morning.it was raning,so the wife just got in her blind,and I went to the river.
never heard a thing,just set up and called and moved and called.a hen answered and came to me.
then 6 more hens came in feeding and one struted and chased the others(yes a hen faned and struted,Wish I had the camera then) they cackled and purred for about 5 min.then I saw him at 60 or 70 yards.he would not come to any calls or purrs,or cackles. then I took my gobble tube,shooked it and her he came at a fast walk.stopped at 15 yards.the rest was history.

had to come back to work tonight,a coworked wrecked his car and is off work a few days,so I had to come off vacation to work for him!!![X(]

he had 10 1/4" beard,1" and 1 1/8" spurs, 18 1/2 lbs.he scored 61.5 points.

way to go tree climber!!! went out today and got pics of several groups of birds,hope there still there in 20 days. quite a few good toms in the groups

Congrats TC, but man you guys make it hard for us ol boys that have to wait until late April to go hunting. Why don' t you all just wait until then to tell these turkey stories
