Team 7 Report In
OK Ryan Tucker, kyle hoyt, VP, the_outlaw, BIRD DOG, Wickman, reddawg, Tarheel Turkey, & BearMt.
Report in and tell us where you are from and what are your spring turkey hunting plans are. Lets have a lot of fun with this contest. I got my Nebraska eastern early shotgun permit in the mail on Friday so my plans are to bow hunt March 25 - May 18 and then shotgun hunt April 12-20. My honey hole is public land along the Missouri river just below Omaha. Its 1,200 acres of river bottom forest that is crawling with turkeys and deer. Nebraska transplanted both Rios and Merriams here and a few easterns are running around too. |
RE: Team 7 Report In
I' m from NC. My first season starts in Alabama on March 15th. I will be hunting there for most of the first week on public & private land. I have been down the last few years with moderate success. I just hope the weather cooperates. My next seasons start on April 12th in NC & VA. I hunt all private land in both states with good success each year. I just hope my " luck" holds out for 2003. Good luck to all of my teammates and have a safe season.:D

RE: Team 7 Report In
Well Tarheel it looks like you' ll be up first (Mar. 15) to report success and then maybe me when I go for it with a bow (Mar. 25). I have a sister that lives in NC and many, many relatives in northern Alabama around and between Huntsville & Florence.
Wickman, you didn' t mention what days your season is or permit is for. That is some beautiful country up there. |
RE: Team 7 Report In
:D South Louisiana starts Mar 22 (2 mo wks) I was picked for the Sherrburne Wildlife Mgmt area lotto hunt (2days) Hunting on almost 60,000 acres of some of the most highly populated turkey woods in the state. Only 20 hunters in the state are drawn for that weekend- Going to scout it out next week and will give you guys a kickback on the Outcome. Almost forgot this, April 9 leaving for Sonora Tx to hunt Rios for 5 DAYS , WIll definately score there !!!!

RE: Team 7 Report In
Hey guys I live in North central Minnesota, and I' m starting out my season in the black hills in Wyoming. I got a bird there last year and also called in 2 other really nice toms for my mom so i should have pretty good luck. Im going there either the last week in April or the first week in May. Then i get home and I am going to be hunting around here from May 16-21st. They just opened up this area to hunting and there are only about 50 licenses that got bought. I lined up a quite a bit of land that the land owners have seen a ton of birds on so Im pretty confident about that hunt too. For the past 7 years, I have gotten a bird every year.....jeez i sure hope i didnt jinx myslef....well i guess we' ll see good luck...go #7

RE: Team 7 Report In
I was able to pick up an additional permit for my dad that will be on town so I now have additional motivation to get out in the woods. However to honor all the times he let me shoot first, he' s got first shot for the rest of my life. So my first shotgun success post will be when I call one in for him on what should be the 04/12 morning. Maybe we' ll double!

RE: Team 7 Report In
Like i said before, my season is short, only a week long. My season starts April 21 and goes till the 27th. Their are quite a few birds up here, but we still need to have a lottery system to get a permit to get a turkey. Their are 3 seasons. The first and second seasons are short both runing around a week. The third is about a month long, but not as good hunting as the first and second season . Even though shorter i like the first season better more turkeys around.

RE: Team 7 Report In
Well I' m back from soggy Alabama. Unfortunatley the weather was horrible for most of my trip. It rained 4 of my 5 hunting days. I did hear a few gobbles and saw several birds but had no shot oppurtunties. Even without a harvest, the trip was still enjoyable. Just glad to open another season. Maybe some more favorable weather will be in team #7' s future.

RE: Team 7 Report In
Well fellas, I' m heading out today for Sherburne WMA for the weekend opener. Ask me if I slept last night ? NOT. Anyway I will give yall a kickback when we return, hopefully with good news and some respectable Harvest information to get TEAM 7 out in front. Good luck to all others entering the Spring Woods this weekend and be safe.

RE: Team 7 Report In
Well I kicked off my bowhunting season for turkeys this morning. Got in good position on a few toms gobbling on the roost but when they hit the ground, they didn' t come my way and they already had hens with them. A little later I did have a jake come in silent. I didn' t plan on shooting him but for some reason he hung up at 25 yards like he saw something funny. Chased a few other gobbles through the woods but came up unsuccessful for my first day out. At least all my gear is organized and ready to go. It wasn' t a really good spring morning since it had snowed some during the night and was a little windy.
