how far do you drive to get to the " SPOT"

i was just wandering how far must of us travel to get to your hunting spot. i mean in one day (none of this spending the nite stuff). the only property i could come by where i live is right at an hour away but it is the deer and turkey " honey hole" so i guess it is worth it. just wandering if most people get up early and leave real early to get there before dawn or if most have a close by spot?

[>:]I think hunting the east coast is a different creature than hunting in the western states... A lot of people do travel and camp at their spots - I know I do - 8 hour drive. When I hunted VA - 45 minute drive was all that was required. If I were going on just a day hunt... I' d try to find something w/in 2 to three hours of drive time... Hopefully no one with radar guns will be along my route[&:]

I have to drive 1.5+ hours each way.....There is good hunting closer but either I don' t have access......or it is just too crowded.

I have national forest within 5 miles of my house but it takes me about 40 minutes to get to the good spots. Farthest (private land) 1 hour, .
Ive been scouting some spots within 15-20 minutes to hunt this year.

Right now, it looks like it will be a 1.5 - 2 hour drive.

Depending on the weather (snow) it takes me about 1-1/2 - 2 hours to get to the nearest spot. My regular area is about 5 hours away. Both areas are National forest, with the closest having some WMA land.

About 10 minutes to my usual spot.

Most of the time about 15 minutes but have shot a bird less than 5 minutes from the house. The biggest problem with hunting close is you get into the woods to early and sunrise takes forever:D

At home about 5 minutes by foot, at our lease about 20 minutes. I have worked several Gobblers within about 250 to 300 yards from my back door. I guess I' m really lucky.

Depends on the species I' m after. If I chase Easterns, it takes me a little over an hour to drive, then a 45 minute hike. If I am after Merriam' s, it is a 7 hour drive and a 4 day camp.

I hunt on public land and the area I hunt most is 1 1/2 hr. drive(USFS). There are 2 state WMA' s within 30 min. that I also hunt .

Depending on the " HoneyHole" I' m hunting.The average distance is 18 - 30 miles One way.
But...There are some spots in another county,I will drive to.Because the hunting pressure is lighter,The longer drive is worth the type of hunt I' m wanting.ie - No other hunters other than my partners for at least 3 -4 miles.

Our lease is 75 miles from my house (1½ hour drive). But I drew a permit to Bois d' Arc WMA this year so it will only be about ½ hour drive.

Our hunting place in the Ozarks is about 4½ hours from me; only 1½ hours from my cousin.

Five minute walk from my house to a 45 min. drive , or more if needed. My favorite is the five minute walk .

RE: how far do you drive to get to the " SPOT"

:) Well the first year I had to drive almost 2 hours with no luck whatsoever....last year I had an hour drive to some private bush, 25 acres, I was able to get permission to hunt with 2 birds falling to the 870 pump gun..this year I was able to secured 50 acres of private bush about 20 minutes from home but do to the excessive amount of snow we have, i' mve been unable to scout the property....regardless, if that bush dosen' t work out I still have the one an hour away!!!!! ONLY 47 MORE DAYS TO GO!!!!!!!!!! Brampton Mike [8D]

The closest spot for me to hunt is about 2 hours away. Howver, it is getting too crowded. So now I have a 4 hour trip traveling about 75 mph.

I can walk out from my house about 5 min. However we prefer to camp in the forest , about a 30 min drive.

The 119 acres I own is about 45 minutes away. ANd I have seen turkey galore and sign. I also have a 19 acre farm, so I can walk out the back door....where I got my doe....and then right across the road, less than a minute walk.....should I go on!:D
