Well i got my new Nitro Hevi Shot in the mail today. (3" 4x5x7 1 7/8oz)
I wanted to cut one open and compair it to what was inside the Remington Hevi Shot.
Nitro shell- It looked like to me that the heavier shot(4' s and 5' s)was the last thing to go in the shell. The buffer in the shell looked to be a lot better than the Rem shell. It looked like small plastic bb' s about the size of a grain of sand. The hevi shot in the nitro shell seemed to be more uniformed and round with very few deformed pellet. There was definetly a coating on the nitro hevi shot...
Rem shell- Pellets were of all different sizes. The pellets in the Rem shell seemed to be a lot more deformed with little splaters stuck to the sides. The buffer looked like little pieces of styrofoam just a little bigger than the nitro buffer.
I prob will be going out in a couple of weeks to pattern these bad boys. I want to do a penitration test compairing the Nitro hevi shot, Rem hevi shot and the winchester HV loads into a piece of 1/2" ply wood at 30 and 40 yards.

I broke down and ordered me a box today, On their web site it states that the 4X5X7' s should put between 230 and 270 shot in a 10" circle at 40 yards with my gun and choke, we will see.

What choke are you using for the Nitro? I am looking at the Rhino choke for my
Rem. 870 but $80.00 is alot for a choke to me and I haven' t talked myself into
ordering one yet.
The Nitro ammo from what I have read here does seem to
out perform the other' s but it will be interesting to see how it compares to the
Win. load. Keep us informed. From the Mountians of Western Maryland here too.
