my vote goes to the 870. I have the express 870 supermag in mossyoak break up. for a pump turkey/waterfowl gun this is awsome. you can shoot the big 3 1/2 inch loads or just stick with the 2 3/4 if you want. my dad has an 835 and he also likes the rem better. its more solid and is deffinatly worth the money. if you dont want the 3 1/2inch, just go with the 870 express mag. (2 3/4 and 3" ) just my 2 cents

I' ve owned both. I currently have a 835 that is one of the originals and it has taken a licking and keeps on ticking. But I remember the balance and smooth action of the old 870 3" goose killer I had back in the 1970s and if I had to do it all over - I' d buy the Remington in a good camo and never look back, IMHO. You would do very well with either one.

I have the 835. 3 1/2in. shells seem to stick once in awhile. Hope I can over come this problem, I do like the gun though. I think I' ll try the bow this year and send the gun in to have it looked at, or maybe I' ll use my new Berretta AL391, or maybe my Rem. 870, or my Mossberg 500, or my Winchester, or maybe, well, I' ll figure something out.
