I am with out a doubt the stupidist human being on the face of the earth, at least for today I am.
Keep telling myself to be about 200 yards from where I park the truck by 10:00 am. But I refuse to listen to the little voice in my head.
Have seen this specific bird a couple times this year and even last year when I have walked back to my truck.
Sunday morning my son and Ijoked about it as when we were hunting a different spot.
So today I head to the property and about the time I had planned on moving (9:15)I see a Tom out in the field, with two hens. Called to him, he couldn't care less. After he walked out of sight a hustled I around to a spot where I can see really well and watched this bird strut behind these hens and walk in the woods with ten yards of where I had planned on sitting at excatly 10:35.Ten minutes later six hens came out of the same with another nice Tom behind them.
The reason I feel stupid is becuase I hadn't hearda gobble since a little after six and knew my best chance was to get where I knew birds would be, based on sightings and scouting. But I just had to get where I could hear and see well. It was a great vantage point allright, watched him walk in right where I should have been.
This Tom has at least a 10 inch beard and is a butterball, he waddles when he walks.

I did it once this year as well but layed him out the next day. There's been 3 longbeards hanging around the same place where I killed my bird last week but I've been kinda of leary of hunting it again so soon. In fact, I hunted it Saturday morning and saw nothing but hens. I'm gonna try them again in the morning
.
God Bless,

I do this approximately once a year. That's why I love turkey hunting. The scenario is usually never the same and approach has to be different from one year/one dayto the next.

Good luck for the rest of your season!
