Well Day 3 was a tough one to swallow!! :'( We really had good scouting on the field, and knew there would be lots of good birds! We got there early and got all setup, and sure enough at first light we had a bunch of birds fly down off the roost and land out in the field about 200 yds. out. It was really cool, we had about 20 birds in the field, apx. 5-6 good long beards, about 6 jakes or so, and the reast hens. They were like a hive of bees out there, just running around jumping around, hens running and toms running off jakes!!! It was really cool and great footage! We really thought we were gonna shoot a banner day and get 3 birds down!!!! Well long story short, the birds would not move!! They stayed within 60 yds. of that spot and in full strut for about 4 hrs. straight!!!!! We got alot of cool footage and at the closest they were about 120-150 yds. out. I got alot of footage of them breeding the hens out there in the field, etc., but they birds would not leave those hens and come over to us!!! So we ended the day without any birds, but we got a front row seat to a great show!! Lots of good footage to mix in. Too bad, but overall we had a great time up with Kevin at River City Outfitters, and I really would like to thank him and Kyle for all their hard work and hospitality!! Here's the pics of the day...
