Default Kicks 680 for 10 gauge

I bought a used Browning Pump Shotgun in 2000. 10 Gauge 24 inch barrel Invector. It has a Kicks GT 680 choke. I use the gun for turkey hunting only and use #4s copper plated buffered magnums, 3 1/2 inch , 4 1/2 DR EQ, 2 1/4 oz shot. I have been well pleased with the performance of the gun with this setup.
I see on the Kicks websight that this choke is recommended for #8 or #9s...papershooter. Again I have used it for 8 years.
killed a 21 pounder Wednesday at 51 yards. Are #4s bad for the gun/choke??

CONGRATS ON YOUR GOBBLER!!!!!!

its good to talk to another 10 gauge lover.
.680 is tight for a 10 ga, remember that the bore is standard around, .776 so the constriction is 100 thousands, very tight. i could write a book on 10 gauges , shooting them for 15 years, now.. my set up is a rhino .685 with nitro 2.25 #5 hevi , i can put close to 190 pellets in a 10 inch cir at 40 yds at 1240 fps

i also shoot themonster 3 ounce nitro out of this same choke tube, 316 hits for that one in a 10 inch cir.

You could try the primos jelly head but Indian Creek choke tubes will be developing a choke tube this summer, and it will prolly blow everything away in its class, they have dominated the still shoot circut and hold every record out there. i have shot the haistings ported .695 and the rhino out performs the haistings on every shell out there.

also try the environmetal H13 hevi shot #5 load , it will vastly out perform the #4's you are shooting on pattern density and penetration.ive tested it and it shoots way tighter than the rem, win, and federal#4 lead loads, there is so much to talk about 10 gauges they will be making a strong comeback in coming years, check out oldgobbler.com (one word) there is a whole gang of 10 gauge shooters and reloaders there and they can help you.

also dont shoot hevi out of the kicks tube, they are not rated for hevi shot, and the extra pressure from the stotcharge could dammage you choke or barrel, be safe.

I just started shooting Hevi-13 myself. I'm shooting a 12 bore though... but an 835... so I'd say its more like an 11 gauge I happen to have a very good shooting gun.... 205 pellets in a 10" circle at 40 yards.... but thats with #6s.... for you to be getting 190s with #5s.... man thats a shooter! Love 10 gauges.... only thing I don't like is the weight!

the 2.25 nitro in ten gauge is the ten gauge eqivilent of the famous hevishot "white shell" if you know what i mean, it is like gold. but at 1240 fps not 1090!!!!!
