Heard a rumor that Rob Keck quit, and Carl Brown was fired, also heard there was an impending audit. does anyone have any current info on this? []

Ok, so whats happening now. any new CEO appointed yet, anyone submit there name yet? will there be a revamp of the NWTF now. read a pretty good sugestion about limiting the tenure of CEO. yes Rob worked hard, but he was well compensated for his sweat.

Hell be "in office" still until June 1.

They apparently passed the audit fine, found no traces of any criminal activity (i.e. stealing) and all went well.

Keck is leaving, he was VERY highly paid, but no one can argue how much he did for the NWTF and turkeys in general.A seemingly great guy, with an enormous passion for turkey hunting and conservation.

I posted an email I got about it on here...But ive recieved 2 since that one over this same issue. They regurgitate the same info just type it up differently.

There have been a lot of "rumors" flying around.... most of it is just flat out crap and scuttlebutt. Nobody but Keck knows for sure why he left yet... although folks are starting rumors about stealing and embezzlement and yah-yah-yah.....

Keck's salary is fairly small potatoes for a private company doing over 48 million in revenue a year... for a non-profit... its on the higher side.. but also keep in mind that he has been with the NWTF for over 28 years.... and the CEO for over a decade.... time in billet does make a difference when it comes to pay. And anyone with his clout and leadership could have made a fair piece more on the private market. For all he has done for our sport of turkey hunting and the resource... I think they should have paid him a hell of a lot more.

I fully agree Mr. Keck was vastly instrumental bringing wild turkeys to many states and many people - but just exactly where does his salary come from is what bothers me.

Yes I am a NWTF member and have been for many years.

I am not and am Glad I'm not. This guy has probably made a Ton of money over the 28 years.

Just what has he done? I know our Missouri Dept. of Conservation have done a lot for the Birds. I like the Mag. He's raised a lot of money. But seriously what have they done to get more Turkeys in our Area?

You need to think bigger than that - look nation wide! And the NWTF lobby part for the bills on Conservation for turkeys and other game is huge. MO was instrumental allowing trappig of your bird to be planted in other areas. Look what MO has done for that.

You don't have a kill permit system, you need not apply before a given date, you can kill more than one bird, just go buy a license I can not.

Sorry I do feel Keck did a good job - however I feel little disapointed at the salary thing and I think that what the uproar was about I don't really know. That and 2 others high ups that wherelet go.

So yes I will may re-do my membership but at a geneal level but will follow who they bring in and how much they pay them! Then make up my mind.

JWs post was good, and thats exactly how you have to look at it. Anyone who is a member of NWTF and has done anything good for the turkey's in your area is a direct result of Keck's efforts to take the NWTF from a grassroots organization, to a nationwide (multi-national now) foundation. You can't exactly expect to see Rob Keck on a tractor planting chufa on every WMA in the country, but he has drummed up the numbers and the volunteers and corporate sponsors to make sure that sort of thing is happening as much as possible.

The time for some new people in those upperpositions, is long over due in my opinion. Yes, he started out way back when and the NWTF has come a long way, nobrainer there. BUT!! Those top NWTF positions should have a term limit. That "I'm in this job for Life" attitude doesn't cut it anymore with a lot of people. That huge salary, once diclosed to the masses, I'm sure didn't go over that well either. There are many people out there who can do just as good or BETTER!! Sorry, but I don't feel sorry at all for those guys getting the boot!!
