Who uses 2 3/4"?

Never turkey hunted and I have only 1 week this season. I'll be using my Remington 1100 with a turkey choke, size 4 shot I suppose. How many others here use a non- 3" magnum shotgun?

Although my gun is a 3" it's a 20ga. It harvests Gobblers with "Authority". My load has 1¼oz of shot so your 2¾" 12ga will certainly get the job done as you load has 1½oz shot!

Just think about all the turkeys that werekilled before the 3" and 3 1/2" turkey loads got popular. They will do the job, but won't have the range as longer shells.

I use them. If you look at the ballistics, they are as fast or faster than most 3" loads. If your gun patterns them well, they will kill turkeys at any range that a 3" load will.

I've had very good results with the 2 3/4 loaded with 4X6 shot, as well as with 5's.

Range is not the problem with 2 3/4 inch shells. Because they contain a lighter amount of lead shot they impart just as much velocity to that shot as a 3 inch shell will to a heavier load. The drawback is that containing less pellets means that you will probably not get as dense a pattern from a 2 3/4 inch shell as you will from a 3 inch shell. The only real advantage of 3 or 3 1/2 inch shells is an increased number of pellets that also increase the likelyhood of one finding a lethal spot on a turkeys head or neck. But if a gun patterns well with 2 3/4 inch shells it has the potential to kill at an equal range.

I shoot 3.5" inch shells cause they pattern better. a 2 3/4 pattern has a whole lotta holes in it....
Had to pattern the 2 3/4 cause my wife was trying to be nice and got me some shells for father's day... all I could say was... awww.... how cute.
