roost hunting
 
what do you guys think about roost hunting? a guy and I had differnt views on this today, so what are your views on this.

I neverhave or will I ever shoot a turkey from the roost. Thats me though. Some may disagree but thats ok thats them and not me.

i wont do it either, its illegal here in Pa. but i was talking about was setting up next to the roost tree and shooting them before they fly up

In MO it isn't an option. We can't hunt after 1 PM. Only being able to hunt part of the day is good for the turkeys. Gives them a chance to regroup for the evening and makes sure the hens all get breed.

i see no differents between hunting on the roost and shooting them out of the tree, but to each his own

Turkey on the ground?= dead turkey. There is no way to know which exact tree to sit under to get a shot at that tom.

I wouldn't shoot a turkey on roost, but wouldn't look down on someone huggin up to a roosting area and tryin to catch one before it heads back up.

How would this be different than setting up on a known strutting zone?
