The Primos Mini Sonic Dome is what I've been waiting for for 7 years.I got store bought teeth and until the dome came out I couldn't find a mouth call that would work. The Mini fits my plate and with practice I'm doing ok with it.By season I'll be back tto mouthcalling again!!!!

I just bought my first set of diaphrams. I've been practicing a lot. My question is this...I noticed last night that when they had been in the little plastic/snap close containers they came in for a couple of days, they started to have some mold on them. I guess I should let them dry out first or is there a better container to keep them in than they one they came with?
After you use them, rinse them off and put them in the fridge. A little plastic divider or piece of flat tooth pick between reeds works well too, just make sure that if you move the tooth pick/plastic you wet the call first so you don't rip the reeds. Also, isn't there a 'g' in the word diaphragm? :D

I thought diaphraGm looked right but I just went with it!! :D

Thanks for the advice. How long can you keep them in the fridge?

NC:
For cleaning throw your mouth call in a glass of mouth rinse and water over night.

Also mouth calls will keep many many years in a refrigerator, but separating the reeds is a big plus also.....

Yeah, giving them a listerine bath is supposed to be good too, kills the germs. NC, I'd keep them in the fridge any time you're not using them or out hunting.

You can rinse them in Listerine or Scope... it makes them taste better certainly and kills off some of the evil.... but really the best thing for them is alcohol free mouth wash..... the alcohol can have some negative effects on them.... granted if its just a quick rinse it doesn't matter... but I don't think I'd leave them overnight too often in any mouth wash with alcohol. Leaving them in the fridge in the offseason is the best thing to do. The enemys of mouth calls are (ironically) heat and pressure.... I keep some of mine in my pocket almost from January through June every single day, but they are in a small plastic case... yes there is heat...a bit... but no pressure. And I rinse them daily. This is their second year, and they have held up well.

You know what they say... judgement comes from experience... experience comes from poor judgement! We've no doubt made many and Lord willing I'll be around another 20 years to make a whole bunch more!
Amen to that!!!!!

Short Story...If anyone gets tired of these stories just let me know and I will tell them anyway:)

This kid came to my house to buy a Box Call. Woke me up from a nap. So I let him look at my calls. I can't remember if he bought one are not. However, he asked me what I used. I said a Mouth Call, he asked if I would call for him, so I did.

So I laid my call on the Coffee Table and he grabs it.[:@]He says can I try it? I said you don't want to try that call, I have had it in my mouth. He Says "It's allright I have been chewing Bubble Gum":D:D:D:([:@][:o][:'(][:-][&o]

Try this product. It is watertight and keeps calls fresh and the reeds seperated. They are available on River Valley Game Calls site. It is called Diaphresh. It goes for around 20 bucks and should last a long time.

Try wrapping the call with a piece of paper towel when putting it up, seems to soak up any leftover moisture. I started doin this a few years ago with 3 calls I kept in the same case. I just ripped little strips of paper towel and separated the calls, works well. I have had a few calls taste a bit mildewy a time or two, but it hasnt killed me yet to stick em in my mouth and keep using em :D.Another littletip that makes em taste better is keeping your calls in a flavored snuff can. I know a fella that keeps all his calls in an empty wintergreen skoal can. Being an avid "dipper" myself, Ilove the taste of wintergreen latex in the morning haha :D.
