It would have to be my aluminum slate type call. It has been good to me the last few years and I have a lot of confidence in it when I use it.

I use all types of calls but if I had to choose just one it would be a wingbone or a Turpin Yelper. I have a Turpin Yelper made by Pennswoods that I bought in 1969 and every turkey I' ve called in responded to this call. It is usually the 1st call I use and the last, just before :DI shoot.

I' d have to say a good friction call, slate or glass. I can make softer turkey sounds with my voice when he' s in close.

A tube call would be my second choice.

I would love to use a mouth call but cant because of shape of my upper pallet.[:o]
When I get old and all my teeth fall out i will give it another try.
Until then its my TRiple THreat friction call.

I got a new HS Strut champion box call. I have never used a mouth call before, so I don' t know how people get the sound from them.

Me? Well I' ve gotta be different. With all those birds hearing mouth calls all day I' ll go with a boxcall. Works great as a locator and calling them in.

I chose the slate call. I can' t use a diaphragm worth a flip. I can use a box alright, but don' t. I prefer some type of slate call...Aluminator, Ol Yeller, Black Magic, something to that affect...

Couldnt make an accurate turkey sound with a mouth call if my life depended on it. So ill stick to my H.S. Strut Black Magic and its Magic Wand.

The slate is the one I am the best on right now, but as I posted over on the NWTF board, I had to stay home Wednesday so they could install a garage door. Well I watched every turkey video I had, then I grabbed the book I have that shows how to do the calls, so I worked with the box call, and I started sounding like the videos, then I went through several slate calls I had. There was a glass over slate from Primos from the video I got and it sounded okay, but the guy who helped call in my gobbler last year put a picture underglass and told me it was to save. Well, I flipped it over to the slate side and I was really impressed with the sound. So I put it in the vest, and will use the slate side as to not mar the picture of the handsome man on the front!:D Maybe it will be the lucky one for me. Decided to use the year in Korea to get better on the mouth call and when I come back see if I can drive Old Tom wild!

Mouth calls offer hands free use, no movement, and offer different tones, so that' s my choice.

Well if it is only one call it would have to be the mouth for me as well. But I generally use my Silver Queen alum slate to call them in and finish up with the mouth when they get in closer.

Homemade " Gaskins" type box call for me. I didn' t decide on that one, the turkeys did! I use all of them, but the toms like that homemade call better than anything else I' ve got.
