My bud and I are going to Alabama for the first time this year. We have been going to SC for the last 6 or so years with great success. Wanted to get a little bit of an earlier start tho this year..........so watch out here we come!
We will be hunting the Northern part of the state.
Any hints, tips, weather knowledge, how crowded are some WMA's...etc would be awesome!
I do have a specific question...... Do the WMA gates and roads get locked and closed? That would be great!
Thanks Bros!

yes they do get locked and closed.
The public land in Bama is the worst I've ever hunted. I've been all over Talladega Nat'l. It's crowded and the birds are very scattered and spooky.
I would suggest TN, KY or WV.

Decoys are now legal, but I wouldn't suggest it on public land in No. Alabama. The northern WMA's are crowded. About all I hunt are thenorth WMA's. If you know where to get way from people, you will be alright. I have taken birds in tha Black Warrior WMA, which tends to be less crowded. Just be ready to have your hiking boots on. Black Warrior is huge and the birds tend to be spread out.
