Wouldn't give up on it yet. Sometimes the turkey's like the higher pitched sound. Especially if you are hunting an area where all they hear are the raspy calls that you and every other hunter in the woods think sound good.
I always take an assortment of calls that have a lot of different sounds. Let the birds tell you what they like that day. It changes day to day andon those days when nothing seems to work sometimes that call thay you hate and are skeptical to use is just the ticket.

i called knight and hale, i told them about my problems with the call. they let me listen to one and i called on mine.i most have got a bad one.they said that they would send me a new one for free.its nice to see a company stand behind there calls.

Maybe you need to work on the striker. A little scothbrite or light sanding may fix your problem. On the other hand high pitch is not a bad thing. Every gobbler is different and may just like that crap.
I would try the River Valley Enigma or the Magnum.
