The first pic is the new Remington sureshot and the second pic is the SPS-T with thumbhole. I have the one in the second picture (only I have the 870) and love it. Very comfortable to handle. If you haven't given either one of these guns a chance, you may want to think twice...especially if you are a Remington fan.

I guess the top one is for lefty also... I just wish they would of done a way with that piece on the bottom of the top one and just made it a plain ol pistol grip;)

x2. That makes no sense for that little connector piece to be there.

I like 870s. My friend has both a 870 and an 1187. After all the trouble hes been gettin out of the 1187 cycling shells, i have no interest in ever owning an 1187. Maybe he got a bad apple, but it was enough to scare me away from them. His 870 his a heck of a gun though.

Then again, ill never need another shotgun. Ive got the best gun for all situations in my case.

That's kinda what I was thinking. I have the one on bottom and there is absolutely no way a lefty could use the gun.

I have a 1187 Primere that I use for dove and quail hunting and it is really nice and smooth. I have had no problems with it cycling shells. The reason I went with the 870 for a turkey gun instead of the autoloading 1187 is becuase the 870 is easier to care for and when turkey hunting, I usually only take one shot and don't need multiple shots like what I would when quail / dove hunting. Another reason I went with the 870 is because it was a couple hundred dollars cheaper, too. The 870 SPS-T with thumbhole (bottom picture posted above) is a sweet gun...

I have a Benelli Super nova with the steady grip and love it. It seems to help dampen recoil even more so then my Super nova with a comfortech stock.

Looking at it from a design standpoint, it is there to reinforce the stock. Just like a suspension bridge, a lot of the vibrations and what not will be directed through the small connector. Sort of like how Hoyts Tec risers work.. Perhaps not as applicable in firearms, but if there wasn't an advantage to having that piece there, then they wouldn't have fooled with it.

Yeah, I saw both on Remingtons website, the top one (Shureshot) is ambidextrious, can be shot either hand. I may check into one of those.. Thanks guys
