South Dakota
Hey folks , looking for some info on turkey hunting in South Dakota, I would like to try and take my dad there to turkey hunt in the black hills.
Does anyone have an idea on what the cost is, license, tags, guided hunts none guided hunts, would much rather hunt without a guide.
Thanks

MaxceyStrut, the Black Hills are alot of fun to hunt and beautiful country as well. I've only been out there twice but learned some from other forum members/friends. The license is $85 which allows you one bearded bird. I don't believe they have instituted any drawing at this point so everyone who sends in gets a tag. I usually like to go later in season at end of April/beginning of May as weather tends to be better and birds are definitely active. Others like to go early so it's a preference thing there.
I've never looked into any guided hunts but I'm sure others on here have so they might provide some input. I'm thinking about getting out there again this spring as I really liked that hunt but it's a matter of having the time. Here is a link below to their website.

We have a ranch in Harding County, Sd with four miles of river bottoms. We have a good number of birds. We get $500 per person for three days including lodging in our cabins. This is a non-guided hunt on 5,000 acres. Liscense and tags are $100 for two birds. Call me at 208-816-4245 for more info.
Season dates are April 12-May 18

Thanks for the info, Iam not sure when I will get the chance just yet, but this is something I really want to do for my Dad. I got him hooked on turkey hunt a few years ago, now its his favorite game to hunt like mine.
