You're paying not only for theshells, but all the research that Nitro Ray has done, such as testing and patterning. For thevast majority, you save money by buying the choke and shells
he recommends, instead of buying and paying for different chokes and shells, trying to get the pattern you need. There is always the gun that won't fit the norm, but in most cases, you get superior results using his recommendations.
Absolutely! If I would've just bought a box of Nitros and a Jellyhead instead of getting 3 of the lesser expensive chokes and God knows how many boxes of ammo I would've been waaaay ahead of the game now. As I'm typing this, I'm looking at a box of 3.5" 4x5x7 Hevi-Shot Nitros sitting right beside me!

Yeah, Nitros will slam em, but they are so damn expensive. How much are they running these days?
I just bought a box (25) of 3.5" Hevi-Shot 4x5x7's for $153. I realize that it's a lot of money for shells, but I look at it like this: I'm probably going to shoot less than 5 shells while patterning and that'll leave me 20 shells. If I shoot7 shells per year, combining patterning and hunting, that leaves me with 3 years worth of shells. That's $50 per year.

I know for a fact that, if given the choice, I'd buy other boxes of ammo just to see if they'll pattern good probably amounting to more than $50 per year. Heck, 2 boxes of the good stuff is more than that. Now I don't have to. I'm set.And as Gamblinman said, I'm also paying for the R&D that has went into these shells. To me, that's priceless.

That's over $6 a shell[&:].I'll be willing to bet I can kill just as many turkeys with the other "cheaper" premier loads. It's pretty bad when you call $21 for a box of 5 or $40 for a box of ten cheap. My Rem. hevi shot will lay them out. After testing the HD's, I have no doubt they will do the job also. To each his own though. Good luck to all you Nitro lovers. BTW, can you buy Nitros at stores or do you have to order them from the Nitro company? I've never seen them at any sporting goods store.

You're willing to wager that your shells will get the job done, I'm not. I know with the Nitro loads that there willbe a dead turkey.

Nitro's are available from selected sporting goods stores that carry them, Wing Supply, and of course, direct from the manufacturer.

Good luck and good betting!!

Tell you what, many a longbeard have fallen to my hevi shot, so yeah, I'll be willing to wagerthey will get the job done. I too, know with my hevi shot or HD's, there will be many more dead turkeys. Let us know the results of your patterning with the Nitros.

I figure that I'll shoot 7 shots per year based on 2-3 shots before the season starts for sighting purposes and at the most 4 shots at turkeys. That would be an outstanding season with 4 birds. Hey, as long as the permits are available I'll be slingin' Nitros this year.

I confess. I hunt private land. That'll be changing soon enough though. I hunt on a very large nursery that'll be closing within a few years. Then I'll be running around the woods like everyone else. I'm gonna enjoy it while it lasts though.
