Default Win. Extended range question WITH UPDATE!

I bought a box of the Extended Range today and noticed that there was ammo that was called Winchester Extended Supreme Elite. What's the difference between the regular Extended Range and the Supreme Elite? Besides $15! Thanks guys! Simp

Ps: I'm gonna pattern the Extended Range #6's with the Jelly Head .660 tomorrow and I'll let y'all know how it does.

I checked my gun cabinet and their website and as far as I can tell there is only one Xtended Range and thats the Supreme Elite...They do have a Supreme High Velocity turkey load but that is their copper plated load...Thats all I've found out so far.

I've found out that the Xtended Range is the older ammo. Made in 2005. The Xtended Supreme Elite is the newer stuff. FWIW, I've heard that the 2005 stuff shoots better than the newer stuff for some reason. I'll find out tomorrow.

Well, I've got good news and bad news. First, the goodnews: I shot them yesterday with a Jelly Head .660 and I can say that the results were very good.

I was as exact as I could be with these loads. I cut one open and counted the pellets and I counted roughly 380 pellets of #6 shot. This was after the fact that I had shot earlier in the day. It was windier than I like it to be when I'm patterning so I opted to shoot at 30 yards instead of the usual 40. The target I was using was one of the Champion XRAY Targets. It's gridded into 1" squares. It is 18" wide and 17" tall. Of the 380 or so pellets that is in one of these shells, 330 of them were counted in the paper after the shot, with most of them being solidly inside the target with very few "fliers" on the perimeter of the target.

Of the 330 pellets that were in the target, roughly 100 were in the picture of the turkey itself. I also looked for the most concentrated area of pellets and drew a 10" circle around it and counted 190 pellets inside of that 10" circle. That's the good news.

Now the bad news: They don't make them anymore and my shop doesn't have any more![:@]Doesn't it always end up like this?!?! Anyway, I just sent my order in for a box of4x5x7 Nitros, so take that Winchester!

Oh yeah, here's the picture: http://img176.imageshack.us/my.php?image=turkeytargetwinchesterxml9.jpg

They replaced the "Xtended Range" with the "Xtended Range Supreme Elite" version. The regular Xtended Range was the stuff from 2005 and by many accounts, it was the best. I tend to agree.

I believe this is correct, too (at least this is what I have read). Your pattern seems to be pretty nice and evenly distributed. You never mentioned what size shell you shot, but from looking at your patterning target, I saw that it was a 3" shell. I have a that I just bought of the newer Xtended Range Supreme Elite that I am going to pattern. I have a Jellyhead choke as well that I will try out and I also have a new choke coming in the mail that I am waiting to get before I go out to do the patterning.

Yeah, it was the 3" #6's. Let me know how the new stuff patterns with that Jelly Head. Simp
