Default TC Encore for turkeys?

Anyone hunt with an encore 12 guage turkey? I am seriously considering a turkey barrel. I have 2 nova's and 2 835's but I really like the size and weight of the encore. I like to really get out and do a lot of walking when I turkey hunt and the short light gun is a plus. I will be giving up the 3 1/2 capability but they are really punishing anyway. Any info on patterns and loads for the encore would be greatly appreciated.

I've used one for the past couple of years now for the same reason as you mentioned. I like to run-n-gun!They are light weight, but with 3" loads they do kick a bunch! Now I haven't patterned a whole lot of differentloads with mine, but Win. #5 HV have worked great for me out to 40 yards. I use the turkey choke supplied with the barrel.

I've hunted the last two years with a T/C Encore. Nice little package for the run-n-gun guys like myself. I have the thumbhole stock on mine ,which is really fits nice. I use a Trulock choke and 3" federal's with #5 shot. I think I am going to try Winchester's extended turkey loads this season and see how they pattern. Because the gun is light, the recoil does seem to be harder. I guess everything is a trade off. I really like it.
