Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default Cost of Nitro and Wingmaster HD

Since the increase in the price of ammo, does anyone know the cost of Nitro and Rem. Wingmaster HD? Last year the HD's were $20.00 for a box of 5. I'm sure they are more now. Nitros were very high before, so I can't imagine how high they are now.

I'm sure that they're even more. My mentality used to be that I would use the cheapest ammo that I could find. Until I sat down and actually added up the amount of money I've spent trying to find the "perfect load", I didn't realize exactly how much money I had spent on cheap ammo! I would've been waaaaay ahead of the game had I just went out and bought a box of the premium ammo. I only shoot the good stuff now. I figure that I can skimp on calls, clothes, boots and even the shotgun, if need be, but the only thing that I have that actually touches the bird is the ammo that I'm shooting. I want that to be the best there is.

I have to agree with Simp, I tested a lot of lead turkey loads and with one box of Rem. hevi-shot last year I made a large jump ahead in pattern density over anything I tried previously. Should have started there in the first place, but then again maybe I wouldn't have appreciated the difference as much.

I haven't shot HD, but after seeing how hevi-shot performed, the extra $$ for the heavier-than-lead sutff is worth it, IMHO.
