i had the same exact thing happen to me when i was in canda goose hunting. i snaped its neck and layed it down beside the blind. i even heard the neck snap. so i got back in the blind to shoot at the next flock coming in and all the sudden i turn around and my goose was half way across the field running away. it was unbelievable.

Wow...that is pretty funny. I guess the shotgun blast just knocked him out temporarily. I always make sure that the bird is dead before grabbing him. I have seen too many pics of guys hands being spurred by the bird when they thought he was dead!
