Just When you thought it was safe

This past weekend Nate and I gave it to ole try one more time. We teamed up to hammer the birds for two days. We had Larry Miller up from SC (millerhunts) and a good friend from here Bob Z. Saturday was great birds werre gobbling, problem was they were henned up like never before. They would hit the ground and shut right up. By mid morning we had been beat up several times. Basicly we got our butts kicked all day.
Monday, new plan, no calling off the roost. We set up in a field with larry and let the birds work within shooting range before calling at all. There was one tom and 10 jakes. We called to fire them up. They started seperating and then larry let one fly. His first Maine Tom was 22lb 9 inch beard and 1.25 spurs.

So off we wne to get bob ona bird. Another friend showed up and I went with him. Nate took Bob. At around 10:30 Nate and bob came on a tom and a jake. Two calles and the tom came into range. Bobs bird was 20lb 8 inch beard, but nice 1 and 1/8 spurs.
To follow up. Dave and I did not get a bird, but had one of the best hunts ever. We headed over to another town and saw a tom out in a horse pasture. We went down the road and out into the woods. We started calling and the woods lite up. I heard like 500 gobbles in 15 minutes. We had 15 birds come in from all directions. 3 toms came to 20 yards and sat there for 3 minutes. The problem was they were neck to neck. If Dave shot one he would get three. So we had to let them walk off. It was one of the most incredible times ever for me. Way way cool.
