I took my 13 year old daughter out hunting today. We got reports that the hens are laying up and we should go with a single hen deek out in the soy field. We get the blind all set up and the deek 20 yards out. Things sound great from the get, 2 gobbles in 10 minutes so I continue soft purrs for a minute or two listening to the woods behind and watching intensely out front. To remind everyone, this is my first year turkey hunting and calling.
My daughter taps me and says there is something just the other side of this small hill in the field about 150 yards out so, I getout the bino's and glass and I can just see 2 heads moving. Excitement starts to set in!!!!! I hush on the purr and start with a soft cluck to seeif they won't come over the hill but, no dice they are down in the valley and not moving so we wait about a half hour and call again, this time success!!! Here they come we are juststarting to get a good luckat them, the whole body is coming visible.
Bottom line....... I must be a terrible caller. These were the two biggest Canadian Geese I've seen in a while and they came right into my calls and the hen deek........ LMAO...
We'll be back out again tomorrow maybe, we can call in some turkeys, I have the grunt calls and elk bugles packed in the turkey vest, we'll see how bad I am at those.........

L O L ... Now thats funny.
Bullrider115 your not a bad caller , I've heard you those geese were confused or something.
Keep trying diffrent typs of calls , you'll find something those tom's will like to hear and they'll come running to ya.
Don't give up , just keep trying ... you still got two weeks left , good luck

We should be out there about 2 today. My hunting schedule is kind of messed up this weekend but, a few hours in the woods is always a great thing even if we don't catch sunrise. The deer were out yesterday and this being my 13 y.o. first time in the woods she enjoyed herself. I got a pic of her in full camo and a big smile, this is trophy enough for yesterdays hunt. Today it is the 16 y.o. turn. Hopefully we catch Tom feeling frisky.....
RD- They had a lot of rain out there at the hunting grounds and we walked the field a bit yesterday. There are a few sets of turkey tracks about 10 yards out so, they are moving that direction.
Good Luck tomorrow my friend and I'll let you know what 2 days I am going to be sick this week so we can team up!!!!!
