Default any help would help

I'm going out for the first time this year. I hunt in eastern Ohio. Licking county. I have yet to get a bird ever. I want to improve my chances. Are there any calls that have been working well this year? Any other advice is welcome as well.

Nice to see a fellow Ohio longbeard hunter on here. For us the best call this year has been the slate. We use a Lil' Deuce by HS Strut with the Rosewood striker. Got my brother a 21.5 Lb Tom on opening day by doing a few purs and clucks and some small yelps on it. Got the whole hunt on video. Our box call gets them to gobble occasionaly but it hast really been doing much for us. With the mouth call ~ the raspier the better. On the second day of the season i called a tom with a hen in to about 60 yards but he wouldnt come across the field cuz we didnt have any decoys set up. Also brought in 8 jakes to about 10 yards with it. good luck to ya!
